嘘xū

Ⅰ  ❶ （慢慢地吐气） breathe out slowly
❷ （叹气） utter a sigh: 他仰天而 ～。 He sighs with his face looking up.
❸ （火或蒸气的热力接触到物体） (of cooking fire, steam, etc.) come into contact with sth.; scald; burn: 把馒头在火上 ～ 一 ～。 Put the steamed bread over the fire for a while. 掀笼屉时小心热气 ～ 着手。 Don't scald your hands when you open the steamer.
❹ [方] (发出“嘘”声来制止、 驱逐) hiss; boo: 讲话人被 ～ 了下去。 The speaker was hissed down. 他们把他 ～ 下了台。 They hissed him off [from] the stage. Ⅱ  (表示制止、驱逐) sh; hush: ～ ! 小声点， 孩子们， 你们太闹了。 Hush, boys, the party's getting noisy.
